Six in a row over Michigan

Ohio State finished the season 10-2 with today’s 21-10 win in The Big House. The Bucks have won 6 in-a-row over the Wolves, and Tressel is 8-1 against Michigan.

A bigger win, though, was last week’s 27-24 overtime win over Iowa. The Bucks took a late 24-10 lead in Ohio Stadium, only to see Iowa return the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, then score again to make it 24-24. Iowa didn’t score in overtime, and the Bucks kicked a field goal for the win.

Last Saturday, Kentucky won at Vanderbilt 24-13 to become bowl-eligible for the fourth year in a row. The Cats are still hampered by injuries and visit Georgia tonight.

The Kentucky and Ohio State women’s basketball teams are both undefeated, and have not been challenged.

The Kentucky men are unbeaten but needed a John Wall jumper with about a second to go to beat Miami of Ohio 72-70. Ohio State was behind North Carolina in Madison Square Garden Thursday night but made a gallant comeback. The 77-73 loss is the only blemish on the Buckeyes’ record.

Since my last post, Columbus had 3-2 shootout wins over Anaheim and Edmonton, then won 4-1 in Dallas as Steve Mason had his first good game between the pipes in awhile. The Jackets are in Nashville tonight.
