Rough week in Ohio

The Ohio State women were unable to handle the Dukies in Durham, losing 83-67 for the first loss of the season. That game was bracketed, though, by wins over California and Wisconsin.

The Ohio State men beat Florida State 77-64 to contribute to the Big Ten’s first-ever win of the Big 10/ACC Challenge. Probably the league’s biggest game was Wisconsin’s win over Duke. But in a blowout of Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Evan Turner fell and broke bones in his back, and will be out 8 weeks.

The Kentucky men made a “we’re back” statement in beating North Carolina Saturday. A big early lead almost disappeared as John Wall had problems with leg cramps. Next up is Connecticut Wednesday night. The Kentucky women continue undefeated.

The Blue Jackets have lost 8 of their last 9, and has everyone scratching their heads. Clearly, Mason is having a big-time sophomore slump. Four of the next six are at home, so there is still time to right the ship before the next big road trip.

In between sporting events this weekend I spent some time operating the TARA RTTY Melee and the ARRL 160-meter contest, which is CW only. Lots of fun.
