UK ahead of UT in AP women’s Top 25

Kentucky (#8) is one notch ahead of Tennessee in the Associated Press Top 25 released today. The Cats won a tournament in Mississippi over the weekend and remain undefeated. The Ohio State women are ranked sixth after a easy win over UNC Wilmington.

With Michigan State having lost, the Ohio State men have moved up to #2 in the polls released today. The Bucks beat Miami of Ohio Friday.

Jim Tressel is now 9-1 against Michigan as the Bucks rolled to a 37-7 win Saturday. That’s seven straight wins for the Bucks over the Wolves, and Ohio State has now won six straight Big Ten football championships.

Different story in Knoxville as Kentucky lost to the Volunteers for the 26th straight year. That’s the longest such streak in college football. The Vols struggled early in the year but turned it around, and will go into a bowl with a team much better than its 6-6 record.

The Blue Jackets couldn’t handle a home-and-home series with the Red Wings. Columbus was the last team in the NHL to have not lost back-to-back games, but that streak is over. The Jackets are still in fourth place in the west.

My high school, Columbus Watterson, will once again be playing for the state football championship in its division. Good luck Eagles!
