A couple of first-half buzzer beaters

Jared Sullinger had 30 points for the Buckeyes yesterday, including a 30-footer as time expired in the first half to give Ohio State a 42-21 halftime lead over South Carolina. The Bucks ended up winning 79-57. An even longer shot went in in Rupp Arena. Brandon Knight swished it from mid-court as Kentucky took a 44-24 halftime lead over Mississippi Valley State. Final score was 85-60.

The Blue Jackets had a miserable week. They collected two points in three games in western Canada with a couple of overtime losses. Last night Columbus got a lot of shots on net but only one goal in a 2-1 loss to visiting Dallas.

The Kentucky women beat Alabama A&M, and the Ohio State ladies beat South Carolina-Upstate. As I type this, the Buckeyes are getting ready to play Connecticut in New York City. The Huskies have won something like 87 in-a-row.

We had an ice storm here Thursday but no significant damage. It is just today getting warm enough to melt a lot of it off.
